Dr. Ric Arseneau is an academic general internist working out of St. Paul’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital, as well as an Associate Clinical Professor at UBC.

In addition to interests in medical education and medical informatics, Dr. Arseneau holds an MBA and an MA in Adult Education. His clinical interests include chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and related disorders as well as eating disorders. He is Director of Program Planning and a clinician at the Complex Chronic Diseases Program (CCDP); Director of the Rapid Access Specialist Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital; and Director of the Internal Medicine Ambulatory Rotation at St. Paul’s Hospital. He is also trained and certified as a group psychotherapist.

Dr. Arseneau has received numerous awards for his work. In 1999 he received the Cyril O’ Houle Book Award from the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education. This international award is awarded for “literature that contributes significantly to the advancement of adult education as a unified field of study and practice” and is only the second Canadian book to win this award. In 2016, Dr. Arseneau received the Alonso Award for Excellence in Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapy, an international award by the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) for publication of “A Substance Called Food: Long-term Psychodynamic Group Treatment for Compulsive Overeating.”
