International Women’s Day (IWD) takes place annually on March 8 to recognize and celebrate cis and trans women’s achievements, challenge biases, and reflect on and advance efforts towards greater gender equality. UBC is committed to gender equity and inclusion of all women. By challenging and calling out gender bias and inequality, we can all help create a more inclusive UBC.
Across research, education, and university services and student life, women at UBC are making a difference in the lives of others every day. Explore stories of achievement, events and community resources here: events.ubc.ca/international-womens-day
In honour of the 115th IWD, meet some of the outstanding women in the UBC Faculty of Medicine — including Lisa McCune, Senior Education Manager at SPPH — who are transforming health for everyone. Read reflections: www.med.ubc.ca/news/international-womens-day-2026
