Congratulations to PhD student Rodrigo Sierra Rosales at the UBC School of Population and Public Health on receiving the 2024/25 UBC Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award!

Rodrigo Sierra Rosales

In recognition of the valuable role that Graduate Teaching Assistants play in our programs, UBC annually honours GTAs with the Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award. Up to 19 winners are selected each spring. Successful candidates have met criteria that demonstrate teaching excellence and a high level of esteem for the candidate from undergraduate students and supervisors. The adjudication for this award takes place within the Faculties.

Rodrigo is a second-year PhD student at the School of Population and Public Health and a graduate of UBC’s MSc program. Their research explores burnout among healthcare providers who work with Two-Spirit, transgender, and non-binary youth, with a focus on the positive factors that help sustain and support these providers in their roles. Originally from Chile, Rodrigo is also a physician with a strong track record in advocating for mental health initiatives.
