SPPH researchers awarded $2.18 million in CIHR funding

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of SPPH researchers who have been awarded funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) as part of the Fall 2025 Project Grant and Priority Announcement competitions. These awards recognize excellence in research that addresses pressing public health challenges and will support projects that produce evidence with real-world impact for communities across Canada and beyond.

UBC Faculty of Medicine researchers were awarded more than $30 million in combined funding. The funding supports 40 projects covering a wide range of fundamental and applied research areas, the projects will address some of the most pressing health challenges facing Canadians including breast cancer, diabetes and medication access in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities.
