At SPPH, we’re deeply committed to creating classrooms and learning spaces where every student feels valued, respected, and supported. We are proud to have a diverse student community and are continually working to make sure our teaching, mentorship, and assessments reflect the principles of Respectful Environments, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI).
Upcoming faculty learning forum
Our faculty are actively engaging in ongoing learning about inclusive and trauma-informed teaching. On Friday, November 14, SPPH faculty will come together for a Teaching and Learning Forum focused on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Syllabus and Assessment Design.
During this session, instructors will:
- Reflect on how syllabi communicate values, norms, biases, and power dynamics.
- Identify areas syllabi could be more inclusive and equitable
- Explore strategies to revise syllabi from an EDI lens
- Critically examine the interconnections between syllabi, assessment approaches, teaching practices, and learning environment
These conversations are part of our broader commitment to ensure that every student experience at SPPH is welcoming, inclusive, and caring place to learn.
Learning together
Inclusivity is a shared journey, one that involves faculty, staff, and students alike. As our instructors engage in these reflective and skill-building activities, we also invite students to explore the same values of equity and empathy in their own work, collaborations, and community engagement.

Together, we can make sure that SPPH remains a place where everyone belongs and feels welcomed.
