International Women’s Day takes place annually on March 8 to recognize and celebrate cis and trans women’s achievements, challenge biases, and reflect on and advance efforts towards greater gender equality.
This year, in alignment with the 2025 theme #AccelerateAction, the IWD organization emphasizes the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.
International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the achievements of women and to raise awareness about the challenges they still face, including in the medical field. While there has been progress made, there is still much work to be done. It is important to continue to advocate for equal opportunities and support for women in all fields, including public health.
In the Q&A below, we speak with Suhail Marino, Program Manager and Privacy Officer of the Partnership for Work, Health and Safety, who is accelerating actions by driving changes to create a safer and more inclusive workplace. Suhail’s leadership reminds us that equity is more than a conversation—it’s action. Join us in celebrating the women making a difference in public health.
