Dr. Susan Cox appointed as the Biomedical Ethics Chair in the Centre for Applied Ethics at SPPH

We are pleased to announce that Professor Susan Cox has been appointed as the Biomedical Ethics Chair effective January 1, 2024 for five years in the W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics at the School of Population and Public Health.

About Dr. Susan Cox

Dr. Susan Cox has a long career in qualitative health research which is highly interdisciplinary and reflects a broad scope of topics relevant to Biomedical Ethics. She has been a leader in applying ethics to diseases such as Alzheimer’s and has used a variety of approaches in her research to include individuals with varying abilities to communicate. Further, Dr. Cox has been part of an innovative international group looking at the intersection of arts, health and ethics.

About the Centre for Applied Ethics

The W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics (the Centre) is an interdisciplinary research unit within the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. The Centre was created in 1993 with endowments by W. Maurice Young (LLD) and the Bentall Foundation. The Centre’s affairs are managed by a Coordinating Committee representing faculty, students and research associates, chaired by the Director of the Centre.
