Carolyn C. Gotay is an Emeritus Professor in the Epidemiology Division.
She was the founding Canadian Cancer Society Chair (CCS) in Cancer Primary Prevention, and she directed the CCS/UBC Centre of Excellence in Cancer Prevention 2008-18. She served as Interim SPPH Director in 2011 and SPPH Co-Director 2016-18.
Dr. Gotay is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award and the President’s Award from the International Society of Quality of Life Research.
Dr. Gotay’s areas of interest include:
- Interventions to reduce modifiable cancer risk factors
- Community-based research
- Mixed methods
- Assessment of person-reported outcomes
- Quality of life in cancer patients and survivors
- Clinical trials of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and symptom interventions
