Dr. Farah Shroff appointed to the governing board of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority

Dr. Farah Shroff, an associate of the School of Population and Public Health and Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia, has been appointed to the governing board of the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Authority. The board of directors is responsible for setting VCH’s Vision, Values, Pillars, and the strategic direction of the organization.

Dr. Shroff is a public health professional with expertise in international health policy. Her global public health research and education is dedicated to creating Health for All on a Healthy Planet; she founded and leads Maternal and Infant Health Canada, a global public health collaborative. As a planner, evaluator and researcher, Dr. Shroff has collaborated with various governments in Canada and around the world. Recently, Dr. Shroff’s contributions to global public health were recognized by the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, which awarded her the prestigious mid-career Takemi Fellowship in International Health.

As a young researcher, Dr. Shroff was active in the early days of the BC Centre of Excellence in Women’s Health, one of 5 centres across the country funded by Health Canada. She is on the board of the Harvard Health Lab and Expert at the Harvard Innovation Lab. An independent consultant and faculty member at the University of British Columbia, she also teaches yoga, dance, meditation, and other mind-body activities that promote holistic well-being.
