
Congratulations to Dr. Sarah Henderson on her promotion to Full Professor (Partner), effective July 1, 2024!
Sarah Henderson is a professor (partner) in the UBC School of Population and Public Health. She is also the scientific director of Environmental Health Services at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and of the National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health (NCCEH).
Sarah Henderson started her career as an environmental engineer (BASc, UBC, 2000), working on pollution abatement and control. She switched her focus to environmental epidemiology (PhD, UBC, 2009) when she first became interested in the public health implications of engineering decisions.
Dr. Henderson oversees a program of applied environmental health research, surveillance, and knowledge translation to support evidence-based policy and practice in BC and across Canada. Her work spans a wide range of topics with a focus on exposure related to climate change, including wildfire smoke and extreme heat. All of her research is integrated by core competencies in data science, biostatistics, partner engagement, science communication, and professional mentorship.
