Supporting our campus community

Core to the foundation of UBC is care and respect for students, faculty and staff. Through policy and established support systems, we strive to ensure all members of our UBC community have what they need to navigate difficult situations and challenging incidents that may affect our sense of collective and personal safety.

If you have experienced an event, or witnessed a distressing incident and need support, please follow the links below for the information you need.

Student Supports

UBC students can access support services tailored to their needs to help them through challenging circumstances, both known and unanticipated.

Everyone plays an important role in supporting student mental health and wellbeing. Faculty and staff can use the Green Folder for guidance on what to look for, say, and do to assist UBC students in distress: https://wellbeing.ubc.ca/supporting-students-distress

Faculty Supports

The terms, conditions and expectations of employment as faculty at UBC are detailed in the UBC/UBC Faculty Association Collective Agreement.

The UBCFA also offers support and services to its members.

Staff Supports

Terms and conditions of employment are in place for all UBC employees and describe expectations on the respectful relationship between the University and each other through collective agreements.

Additional Community Supports

The university is committed to strengthening a community in which human rights are respected and the principles of equity and inclusion are embedded in all areas of academic, work and campus life.

The UBC Equity and Inclusion Office in the Okanagan and the Equity and Inclusion Office in Vancouver provide human rights advising services and additional resources for students, faculty and staff.
