  • Applications for the Master of Public Health program will open October 15 and will close Dec 15, 2024.  The MPH receives a large volume of applications each year. We strongly encourage applicants to submit all supporting documents as soon as possible before the deadline.
  • Please note that recently, we have updated our admissions requirement to reflect the new MPH curriculum. The quantitative requirement is no longer required for admissions. However, the UBC MPH Program has a demanding quantitative component to the curriculum. The Admissions Committee will review student transcripts, letters of intent, CVs and references for indication that applicants show adequate promise to succeed with the quantitative elements of our curriculum. Students are encouraged to identify in their application materials the success they have had with previous courses about Statistics.
3. Prepare Documents

Applicants should submit supporting documents electronically through the online application system. We recommend that you prepare your documents in advance. Instructions for the submission of documents will be outlined in the online application system.

Official TranscriptsAll applicants must upload scans of official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended, including front and back pages.If the official transcript does not indicate the degree name and the degree conferral date, official copies of the degree certificate must be uploaded as well.If the official transcript is in a language other than English, certified translations are required.A PDF format of uploaded copies of documents is preferred.Please note there are different requirements for Canadian & US transcripts and international transcripts.Copies of transcripts from UBC are not required (they will be added internally to your application when it is received).Note: Paper transcripts are not required at this stage of the application, they are only required for applicants who are offered admission.

Reference LettersWe require applicants to enter the contact information, including an email address, for each of their references in the online application. Referees can submit a reference form, reference letter, or both. Please submit three references as part of the admission requirements.Referees will receive automatic notification regarding submitting either official letter or reference form. In order to use the online system, referees must have an institutional email account (university, organization, professional business, etc). Referees cannot use the system with non-institutional email (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, MSN, etc). The online system automatically verifies all email addresses.We encourage the applicants to submit the application early in order to allow sufficient time for all references to be submitted.Referees will receive automatic reminders 10 days prior to the earliest referee deadline. Applicants also have the option to change a referee in your online application after they’ve submitted their application and before the deadline.

For referees who do not have organizational email address – Instructions for manual admission reference (we highly recommend referees through the online application portal as mailing a hard copy is at the applicant’s risk in regards to timing and receipt) :Referees must submit the letter on professional letterhead enclosed in an envelope with signature and contact details. The deadline for receipt of the reference is January 6, 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.*Please note that referees need to submit either a formal reference letter or a completed eReference – we do not require both.

TOFEL or IELTS
(if required)
TOEFL or IELTS test scores must be submitted electronically through the testing agency. The UBC institution code is 0965. We must receive the scores by the application deadline. We encourage applicants to book a date early if you need to take the TOEFL or IELTS.Please note that the online application prompts you to self-report your TOEFL or IELTS scores, and allows you to upload a copy of your test report form. We encourage you to self-report scores, but we are not able to accept either of these as official scores. We require that the scores be submitted directly to UBC via the testing agency.
Permanent Resident Card (if required)Permanent residents of Canada must submit a photocopy of both sides of their PR Card.
4. Apply

Complete the online application. It takes about 45-60 minutes to complete the online application and a credit card is required. The application fee for Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents is $110.00 CAD and the fee for international applicants is $168.25 CAD. 5. Check Status

Applicants can check their application status through the online application system by logging into My Applications and reviewing their Submitted Applications. Before the application deadline, the online application system will allow you to upload updated documents, change a reference, and/or see if your reference has submitted their document. Please note that we do not contact students directly regarding the status of their documents.

6. Accept Offer

If you are a successful applicant, you will receive an offer letter notification by email. You must accept the offer and pay a $250 CAD acceptance deposit before the deadline noted on the offer letter. You must accept your offer through the online application system and pay your deposit according to the instructions in the offer letter.
