Student Reps

The Association of Population and Public Health Students (TAPPHS) is the voice for students in the School. They organize events for students. Being a student representative does add a few responsibilities to your workload, but they are manageable. The payback is that you will be meaningfully engaged in running the School.

We have OEH student reps in the school who attend the OEH Division monthly meetings and various committees in SPPH to ensure your interests are represented. Please contact the program coordinator for more information.

OEH runs two Student Feedback sessions per year. All students are expected to attend, and these sessions are beneficial in helping our program be the best it can be and provide updates and changes for future students.

PODs

All MSc OEH students are grouped into PODs, which consist of 1st and 2nd year students and are led by an OEH faculty member. You will be assigned to a POD during the summer based on your career goals and interests.

Your POD lead will be your faculty advisor throughout your program to help you with things like:

  • Course selection
  • Choosing between thesis and project options
  • General information about the MSc OEH program, the School, and UBC.

You will also be assigned a 2nd year MSc OEH student as a “buddy.” Your buddy can help you with all your questions, from local Vancouver cafes to advice on course electives!
