SPHA 502 explore both the financial and managerial accounting concepts and tools and with a specific lens in healthcare. Students will review and discuss the key components of financial statements to provide them with the knowledge to interpret an organization’s financial health and enabling them to drive value for the team. Students will also learn basic financial analysis tools to help plan, direct and control finances and how to leverage accounting information to build a compelling business case.

Kyla is the Director of Financial Planning and Reporting at Providence Healthcare (currently on leave) where she is responsible for financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting. She previously held positions with Ernst & Young (EY), KPMG and LifeLabs Medical Laboratories. She holds a CPA, CA and MHA and teaches various accounting courses at UBC’s Sauder School of Business.
Stephen Lee, CFO, Musqueam First Nation, CMA, FCMA
Stephen is the Chief Executive Officer at Musqueam Capital Corporation. Stephen joined Musqueam in 2011 as CFO and became the CEO of Musqueam Capital Corp. in 2013. He has over twenty-five years of senior finance and executive leadership in various industries and holds CPA, CMA and FCMA designations.
