SPHA 561 Strategic Management (MHA Year Two) will prepare students to develop a managerial approach to analyzing broad business problems and developing strategies that create competitive advantages. Students will learn the basic concepts of business strategy and will be able to apply them with an assigned business case.

Dr. Danielle Lavallee is the Vice President for Health Research BC, Adjunct Professor at UBC’s School of Population and Public Health, and Affiliate Associate Professor in the Departments Health Services at the University of Washington. In her role she works across the organization to foster a patient-oriented approach to research and learning health systems. Her research focuses on advancing methods to incorporate patient and stakeholder perspectives into both clinical care and research.
Over the past 10 years, her work has focused on assessing diverse stakeholder experiences with technology-enabled approaches to supporting care. Danielle holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Health Services Research from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Dave Ingram was appointed Vice President, Major Capital Projects at Providence, on March 16, 2021. Dave has more than 20 years experience working in the public and private sectors. He came to Canada 14 years ago from Scotland, where he worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in their health care consulting practice.
Since coming to Canada, Dave has had leadership responsibility for more than $3.5bn of complex health care capital projects, including the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre, the Surrey Memorial Hospital Redevelopment and the BC Children’s and BC Women’s Redevelopment.
