Dr. Abeer Admad

Dr. Abeer Ahmad (she/her) calls Whitehorse, Yukon home, but her journey in medicine has taken her across the country. She completed her undergraduate studies in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program at McMaster University, where her thesis examined health and social systems policy addressing sexualized violence against Syrian refugee women and girls in Lebanon.
Building on this foundation, she went on to complete medical school at the Cumming School of Medicine, where she contributed to several initiatives, including research efforts aimed at integrating anti-racist practice into medical school curricula across Canada. Her commitment to equity and systemic change also extends beyond medicine; prior to medical school, she served under the Government of Yukon’s Youth Climate Change Panel, reviewing the territory’s climate change policy—an experience that sharpened her understanding of structural inequities and solidified her commitment to decolonizing both medicine and health policy.
Grounded in her lived experiences as a racialized settler in Canada and shaped by her academic and professional experiences, Abeer is committed to advancing health equity through an anti-oppressive, community-centered approach. She is excited to join the UBC Public Health and Preventive Medicine Residency Program, where she aims to carry forward her commitment to fostering inclusive, culturally grounded, and decolonized systems of care.”
