Xuan Zhao
Dr. Xuan Zhao (she/her/hers) is a second-year resident in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) with interests in climate crisis resiliency & adaptation, rural health equity, and public health communication. She is a Han-Chinese settler, living, working, and learning on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
Xuan has worked with multiple health-related organizations, including the UBC School of Population and Public Health to research health vulnerability to climate change, the non-profit BC Parks Foundation to develop their nation-wide Parks Prescription program, and the tech company Thrive Health to expand their COVID-19 mobile app. She is also an active member of several physician wellness and planetary health groups.
Xuan completed her medical training and Master of Public Health at UBC. Prior to that, she grew up on Treaty 6 Territory (Saskatoon) and studied Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan.
Xuan – pronounced “shwen” – is also referred to by her official name, Jingxuan. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time admiring and exploring nature, growing plants and foraging, and learning physical geography.
