
Dr. Xuan Zhao

Dr. Xuan Zhao (she/her/hers) is a fifth-year resident in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) with interests in climate crisis resiliency & adaptation, health promotion, and public health communication. She is a Han-Chinese settler, living, working, and learning on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
Xuan has worked with multiple health-related organizations, including the UBC School of Population and Public Health to research health vulnerability to climate change, the non-profit BC Parks Foundation to develop their nation-wide Parks Prescription program, and the tech company Thrive Health to expand their COVID-19 mobile app.
Xuan completed her medical training and Master of Public Health at UBC. Prior to that, she grew up on Treaty 6 Territory (Saskatoon) and studied Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan.
Xuan – pronounced “shwen” – is also referred to by her full name, Jingxuan. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time admiring and exploring nature, making crafts, and having karaoke nights whenever possible.
